It was one of the typical nights when I had to struggle to draft a few more sentences in my dissertation. When the words bounced off me that I had to chase after several words to catch up, I discerned a sentence that says “Every student must experiment with class A and include a data table on the final page of their dissertation.” I was soon elated with the thought of finalizing the draft, but concerned if participants would jostle each other to get the gold during the experiment. To ensure everyone’s safety, I was determined to disassemble it in the tiniest form possible if some started to recoil in fear of the overcrowdedness. But how? Since gold was a rigid product… Abruptly the body turned senseless, and something prodded me but hopefully, not in a painful way. I was able to sense a shadow next to me, saying that I look very absent. That my eyes were squinting and I was sweating all the time. It added, “Say no, please. Are you still thinking of that tragic incident?”

I wept. And smiled that I didn’t forget it.

And broke down.
