Many people feel lonely at some point in their lives; how long it lasts varies among people. In this case, you think negatively about yourself, and the risk of depression and anxiety increases. The most prevalent cause for loneliness is feeling unable to express their feelings or issues. In fact, they even feel that they either don't matter to others, or are not understood.

Then, how can we overcome loneliness?

1. Acknowledge your feelings

Identifying what you are feeling is one of the most important things you can do when dealing with loneliness. If you don't know what you are dealing with, a solution cannot be found. Once you accept the fact that we are lonely, you can take a step back and see how loneliness is affecting your life.

2. Use your time.

If you use your time alone to achieve what you want, you can control that time yourself. This prevents you from focusing on the feeling of being lonely as you can use your time as you want. You can start a new hobby or try to reach your goal; the key is to choose an activity that is linked to your emotions.

3. Interact with others

As aforementioned, people feel lonely when they lack meaningful connections with others. Therefore, one of the best ways to deal with loneliness is to meet people and develop relationships. Volunteering, taking courses, spending time with family; anything creates opportunities to meet people the way you want.

4. Meet someone who has similar experiences

It's good to meet someone, but sometimes you get the most connected feeling when you interact with someone who understands what you're going through. Find a variety of online support groups where you can share your experience and build relationships, or if you prefer to meet in person, find a local support group.

5. Prioritize self-management

It is important to have a relationship with others, but more important than that is self-management.
Balanced eating habits
Regular exercise
Sufficient sleep
Rest
Writing thank-you diary
are some ways to manage yourself productively.

6. Consider treatment sometimes.

Loneliness can't be medically diagnosed, but that doesn't mean you can't get help. Sometimes people need a professional treatment to help beyond going through it themselves.
