A new year has begun, and this year of 2024 is when the presidential election of the United States is being held. While there are two major presidential candidates, Biden and Trump, the majority are expecting Trump to be elected, despite the conflicts he has caused to the whole society before he had to hand over the presidential role to Biden, ultimately resulting in some states like Maine to remove him from the ballot.

Recognizing the high chances of Donald Trump returning as a president of the United States, this article will evaluate Trump’s ability to improve domestic businesses back in 2017 to 2021.

A positive aspect that Trump successfully managed is the unemployment rate and job growth. His predecessor, Obama, built a strong economic basis for the US, despite the harsh financial conditions around the globe. With such a rigid basis, Trump was able to further improve the business aspects of the nation, providing increased job opportunities and hence lowering the unemployment rate.

However, Trump’s negative effect towards business growth should also be noticed. Back in 2019, Trump has failed to manage the spread of COVID-19, with him explicitly explaining to his supporters that they do not have to wear masks. This not only increased the number of patients exposed to COVID-19, but also impacted the operation of countless businesses, limiting them in the number of workers needed for daily operations.

With that being said, Trump’s ability to manage the economy, as well as misleading leadership styles, should be recognized by all US citizens, so that they can vote for the best candidate who would improve society.

The long primary campaign planned by republican governors is facing a complicated situation as it is unsure whether Trump is going to appear on primary ballots in every state. While the U.S Supreme court has agreed on not ruling whether Trump has exemption from criminal prosecution, he is willing to ensure voters that they have the right to see him from every ballot. Trump is currently remaining on the Colorado primary ballot, and earlier this week, the former president asked the U.S Supreme Court to overturn the Colorado ruling. Trump also remains on the ballot in Maine, and is being challenged for his eligibility in Oregon. However, Maine's top election official has recently removed Trump from the state’s 2024 primary ballot, while the former president was also removed from the ballot of Colorado. The main reason for Trump’s removal seems to be due to the objections citing the U.S Consitution’s insurrection clause and charges from inciting the 2021 capitol riot.

Other than Trump, the major presidential candidates are Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor, Ron Desantis, a Florida governor, and Joe Biden, the current U.S president. The competition between these major candidates is gaining many people’s attention.
